What does the line "CO2 offset included" mean in the technical specification of the device?

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of this century, so everyone must take responsibility for it..

Have you purchased and used a Lenovo Think series computer or monitor for your daily work?

Then, from now on, you can add this to your organization’s sustainability report, as Lenovo offsets the CO2 emissions from manufacturing, transporting equipment all through its five-year life cycle.

All funds are allocated to United Nations-initiated climate change projects.

How does it work?

- When purchasing the device, make sure that the price includes CO2 compensation.

- Lenovo compensates for 500, 1000 or 1500 kg of CO2 emissions, depending on the device model and by rounding it up to the benefit of nature.

- The organization is awarded with a special certificate indicating its specific contribution to the fight against climate change.

- The organization can choose which of the specific United Nations Climate Change initiatives it would like to contribute to.

“To make it even easier to understand, I’ll give you an example. The most popular choice for business customers right now is the Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen9. It is estimated that 508 kilograms of carbon dioxide are generated during the production, transportation and 5 year usage of this device. Lenovo rounds everything up and pays a compensation to the Climate Change Fund for 1,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide , ”says Ervin Rizgel, BTT Cloud Sales Project Manager.

Who is it relevant to?

- Medium-sized and large organizations that are required to submit annual sustainability reports.

- Socially responsible companies, which have identified sustainability and environmental protection as one of their priorities in their social responsibility policies;

- Socially responsible citizens who care about what environment the future generations will live in.

If the technical specification of the device states that compensation for CO2 emissions is included, all you have to do is ask the seller to generate an electronic certificate, which can be attached to the company's documents. If there is no such indication, you can ask the supplier to submit a proposal, which would include the size of compensation. This will cost extra, depending on the type of device.
